Please help! Need to fix bad credit!?

I am desperate to begin fixing my terrible credit and not file bankruptcy. I incurred alot of credit card, financial loan, and medical bill debt a few years back. I used to not care but now that I'm all grown up and have a good job I want to fix my credit and be responsible. Should I pay off small balances first? or make payment arrangements with accounts with most recent activity? Is debt consolidation with a company a good idea? Help please! I want to fix what I screwed up when I was young. Anyone who knows about this or even better, anyone who has been in my situation I really appreciate the advice! My credit score is only arround 550, and I can't even get a cheap car and I make fairly decent money....

Can you answer me some financial advice?

My husband has about $ 5000 worth of debt from before we met. He is finding it very hard to pay it all off. Before we try one of those consolidation groups, would you think that it would be wise if I took out a loan for the amount and used it to pay them all off so that we would just have one payment a month instead of a whole lot? Would you consider it his problem? We are wanting to buy a home soon but we would like to get his debts settled sooner so that he can start building his credit back up. I have good credit, almost 700, so would this work? How would it affect my credit?

How can I fix my credit score?? **NO SCAMMERS OR I WILL REPORT YOU**?

I had a lot of credit cards when I turned 18 (regreted it) and I did a debt consolidation program (CareOneCredit); I was able to afford min payments, but I wanted one payment and to just pay them off. I figured that program would help. I didn't realize it was a debt management program and would make my credit bad. I currently have no credit cards, but I do still have a car payment. I tried applying for a credit card now that it has been 3 years of me paying (I am not 23) and know better than to charge everything, I just want to build my credit but I am getting denied. How else can I build it. ***NO SCAMMERS OR BUY A CREDIT REPORT OR ANY OF THAT GARBAGE - I will report you if you send me a scam***

How can I attempt to fix my credit from mistakes I made in college?

When I was pursuing my undergraduate degree, I was an idiot when it came to credit cards. To make a long story short, I looked as credit cards as "free money" so needless to say, a lot of financial mistakes were made. I also have some medical bills from a few years back when I did not have health insurance. To guesstimate a grand total of all of my debt I would say, on the high side, around 15 K. Of course, as I grew up, I realized my stupidity and how important good credit is in all aspects of life. But just because I've grown up, doesn't mean my debt problems have went away. Now I am in Graduate School and dealing with the problem of finding a supplementary loan source to cover tuition. I have heard all the advertisements for debt consolidation agencies, and things of that nature, but when i have looked into some of them, it seemed more like a scam than anything else. I have also thought about declaring bankruptcy, but from what I have learned about that, it will effect your credit negatively for at least five years. I would not be able to lease/buy a car lease a house or rent an apartment, as well as other necessary things. So I am at a loss, I really do want to start working on these problems, and I think if I could consolidate it all into one monthly payment, or get some of it reduced that would help me allot. I am looking for some advice on options I might have, organizations that might help, or any insight anyone can give me on how to tackle this problem. Thanks

I am in such deep debt...?

my husband and I are 26 years old, have been married for 4 years now. Own a home, a camper, and a leased truck. We have lots of credit card debt, in the area of about $ 7,000.00 maybe a bit less. We have a truck lease, our camper payment is 250 a month, plus a home equity loan that is like 460 a month....we did work on the house. Needless to say, we fork out MORE than what comes in. we have awful credit now, because we cant keep up with the bills, creditors call, cancellation notices come in, we are gagging....We are young, and in the past few years spent stupidly, we are not ashamed to admit that. we have learned our lesson for sure, and DO NOT do it any more...problem is we are going to suffer for YEARS because of this. We are now expecting our first child. We NEED to consolidate EVERYTHING or somehow get out of our mess..Bankruptcy is NOT an option, we spent this money we will pay it back. Please just tell us the BEST consolidation companies, with good rates, that wont scam us.

How do I get rid of my credit card debt?

I am a college student that had poor money management skills early in college. I am in about $ 9,000 worth of debt from the past 3 years (much is late fees) and the collectors have been calling me. Are there any good steps to take to get me on the road back to debt free? I've heard about loan consolidation and stuff but I don't know if thats just a scam.

My banks keep messing up my loans/terms, any advice?

I had a few loans out through my significant other, one small one that i used for a car about $ 6,000, one larger one for about $ 28,500, and then we had some combined stuff to do around the house, etc, so that was a home equity for about $ 30,000...all in all those were gotten about a year or two fairly closely together though, and they all started out as lines of credit, fixed interest rates. We both kept making payments on time, and were on great terms, then this whole credit crisis hit...our credit cards, some of them, the limits got slashed, one or two just closed.....then two of these lines of credit became variable rates...and then if that wasn't enough, they reduced the terms from lets say 6 and 8 years down to 5, just like that... and just today I found out that they're freezing them, the two of them, and they're no longer lines of credit just simply loans..which totally eradicates drawing more on it lets say at a later date. So now I especially am very angry, because I feel like we're being messed around by these banks just because they "can," even though we have good if not great credit, make our payments on time, and that's actually not THAT bad of outstanding debt being that it's not all under one person's name. it's just ridiculous though. We've been paying them down, and we still have alot of other credit available that we NEVER use, and income is good..everything is good. So now I'm depressed, becuase in the last year, with all this slashing, it put a serious dent into being able to withdraw espeially for necessary things like health bills. So as of right now I want to know what the best option would be? Should I just let things go how they are, or should I try a different bank and then just consolidate a few into one bigger loan, or try to get a line of credit and just transfer over and pay off the, forgive my language, cr@ppy loan deals we now have? Another concern is, with this outstanding debt, which isn't astronomical but it's still quite a bit... will they be less likely to approve, especially if it's secured? Does going in person help any..rather than just over the phone and internet, and perhaps putting up a collateral or securing it with something might help? The thing is, I used personal lines of credit to have as a safety net, just in case emergencies come up, I mess up and over spend,, or whatever financial crisis may arise especially in THIS economy, and it's something that you pay down but can also reach in if you need it. IT's great for rescues, but now banks are seriously cutting that down, and well....not much is available. So I'm very upset over it. I mean I can understand the economy being bad but...these banks aren't even giving out notices ahead of time to WARN us about changes@! They NEVER notified us about this recent change where they're just becoming loans and not lines of credit which we got APPROVED of. no letter in the mail, just happened. This is all by the way, BANK OF AMERICA! the other one is with capital one, and they're fine thus far. is bank of america just a bad place to do business with? They even treat their LOYAL customers like dirt and we've been banking with them for a long time now! Very depressing I'll say. What are our options? I don't want to go into some debt consolidation thing either because I can totally pay off the bills from the loans etc, tey're not that much considering they're spread out for many years, and they serve a great purpose to withdraw money from if they're lines of credit. also, once the banks do this, are these permanent changes or can they be subject to change? Bank of America's reasoning was : well we just don't DO lines of credit anymore. Fine, but why should we then bank with them? It's our money too we're paying back, so why pay under one bank's conditions & terms you don't agree with. If another bank is more negotiable and nice to their customers & offers better rates/plans.....then...why stick with bank of america? They seem very blase about actually working with you. IT's more like...this is what we offer, this is not, take it or leave it GOODBYE, no care about good customer service or a good payment history NOTHING. I feel like a number and they treat you almost condescendingly. Well why do banks offer these services...if they later complain that people shouldn't be USING THEM? It's a catch 22, if no one used them...their businesses wouldn't be as successful. Banks, what's the deal!?
