should i make this purchase?
i have a wells fargo visa platinum card that i have not activated yet
this is what the website says
-A low rate and no annual fee
-Rates as low as 0% for up to 9 months* on purchases and balance transfers
-After that, APRs range from 7.65% to 21.15% depending on applicant's credit qualifications.
-The option to earn rewards points towards travel, gift cards and more for a low $ 19 annual program fee
I'm thinking about activating it to make two purchases totaling about $ 230
I'll have the money to pay it off in two weeks but will I be somehow screwing myself?
any advice...besides to wait...
please and thank you : )

What do you guys think.?
I have a friend that i work with for couple of years now. He's also my neighbor before & everytime i pay for my rent he would tell me to use his card instead so he could earn points. So he could use it for his travel tickets. I dont see any reason why not at that time & i also wanted to help him get the points so i would give him my check instead. So one day i told him im buying a new computer there's a program at my job that will let me have the computer with no interest and payroll deductable until i pay it off. He told me to use his card instead so he can earn the reward & just give him the monthly payment. So that's what i did (not thinking). I was never late for my payment & give him a check every end of the month as what i should be paying if i got it from work. All of a sudden he told me i have to pay interest from his credit card which is $ 200. He told me that the card offer 1year without interest i was so upset since i could have gotten it at work w/out interest. Do you think
I pay off the entire balance the next day with the money my fiance and i were saving for our wedding. We never talk about it and tried to move on. After 2 years he started asking me for the $ 200 balance he said i still owe him. First he told me theres no interest to pay, second i only agreed to it because i thought if i could help a friend it good. Do you guys think its right that i pay him. I dont have any problems with paying but i really feel bad that this happend this way and my husband now is not happy about it. thanks

Will i get approved?
i startd to build my credit history in sep07. I have a car 32000 loan and 2 cc BOA CAP1
both with 500 credit limit. I have used them each month and paid the balance in full. I received an invitation from the american express starwood card and would like to apply this Feb for the rewards because i travel often. this February it would be six mths cred hist and i would have a score. I did apply for a card from them at the beginning and got denied saying no credit file. Does anyone know much about this? I don't want to apply and then they say i have too many inquiries in the past 6 months, or something like that. I have never been late and never over the limit. always paid in full.

Will I get approval? Capital One Journey Student Rewards?
I've never had any line of credit before, not even under my parents account. Since debit cards don't count, I have no credit whatsoever. Also, between jobs right now so all I have is about $ 750 dollars collecting space in my dresser (and there is no way they would know of this money.) I doubt I'd get approval but after searching around I've found that they are pretty generous with giving limited lines of credit with this card. I don't want to apply and get denied because that will affect my non-existent credit score in a negative way, but I'm also eager to start building my credit responsibly. Anyone have experience with this card? Also, I'm only interested in this particular card because the rates and tiny perks seem fair, and Capital One charges no fees overseas (I travel frequently)
To clarify, no it's not impossible to get a card under 21. Explain that to the tons of fools around me that are running themselves into debt as we speak, with no employment history whatsoever. I really want to know the position of people who actually got this card, not people who have not applied/never had this card.

What happens you don't repay your credit cards?
I know that you have to find a way to reverse your issues. Like Becky Bloomwood, writing a newspaper article from Confessions of a Shopaholic. Maybe win a grocery store scratch-off. I heard that if you don't repay, the bankers won't put you in jail, you'll have to file bankruptcy. Then, you'll have a bad credit and won't be able to get any other credit cards and might not be able to rent an apartment. What else? If nothing happens except for bankruptcy, would it be okay to just travel and shop? That is life!!! Unless you believe that there's a better life after death. What's the point of life if you can't live all the way, experience precious moments and be adventurous. Most would say, 'Let's work hard, and see what's rewarded.' Is it that bankruptcy isn't so threatening, which is why so many people are in debt? Also, most people are in debt because our rents and car fuel and mailing prices rises and lots of unemployed or has low paying job and this world has less jobs than people.

How long before I can get the good CCs after BK?
I went bankrupt around 3 years ago due to an expensive divorce and lengthy custody fight. I've been rebuilding my credit - I have three cards (from companies that cater to less than perfect credit - WaMu, HSBC, capital one) with limits totaling ~$ 23,000 and I have $ 0 balances on all of the cards as I use them only for gas and work reimbursed travel, and I pay them off every month. My FICO score is up to 689 - which isn't great but I'm rebuilding. My income is in the top 15% nationally yet I still get declined for good cards like Citibank which have mileage/hotel points rewards. Do they have a policy of not giving cards to people within X years of BK or do I need to get my FICO higher?
I really just want cards with better rewards as I don't spend more than I can pay each month.

Best American Express for first-timer?
Thinking about getting an Am Ex. After scoping out the website, I am a little overwhelmed with the options. I am not interested in their credit cards, I want a charge card with rewards.
Relevant info: Early 20's, financially independent for a year, good credit history of about two years, annual earnings in the mid 30's. I love to travel and do so often (about 5-6 times a year) so I would like a card that gives me plenty of miles.
I'm hoping to get some legitimate opinions as to what card I should apply for and any thoughts on Am Ex altogether.

Holds against credit cards?
I posted this previously, but for some reason, my edit did not appear. My apologies to the gentleman who took the time to answer me.
I am going to be traveling to Washington state to visit my brother. I booked my travel through Hotwire and paid for my plane ticket and car rental with my debit card. My hotel stay will be paid with reward points I have earned.
My question is, when I present my credit card at the Alamo car rental counter and at the Holiday Inn, how much of a hold will they place against it? I will be staying for five days. Again, everything is prepaid, but I need to know approximate hold amounts. This is a credit card with a low limit of $ 1000. I don't want to try to use my card for gasoline or a meal only to find the limit has been severely reduced by these holds. I have called both places, but no one will give me a straight answer.
Thanks.

American Express Gold, worth it?
I am wondering if the AMEX Gold has anything special about it considering there is a $ 125 a year fee. What do you get with this card that you can't get in other rewards credit card?
I currently have a Chase Sapphire which I pay no annual fee, I get concierge service, no waiting on phone, I get points for every dollar spent etc...
I never miss a payment and I pay everything on time or even before time so maybe that's why I was sent this. But I am wondering what can the Gold card offer for me to say it is worth paying the annual fee. Besides just being a "Gold" card that not everyone has.
I don't travel very often so I am interested in what AMEX offers besides hotels or flights.

First main CC, which one should I get?
I am 20 years old with a credit score of 713 from equifax. I have two store credit cards that I use on a semi regular basis to build my score, but I don't yet have a regular credit card. I will have no problem making full payments on it and I would like to get a rewards card. Is this a good idea? Is there another type of card that would be better?
I love to travel and will be flying to San Diego in Nov, should I get a miles card?
